“The 5 Love Languages” was written by Dr. Gary Chapman. Basically, Dr. Chapman contends that there are 5 primary love languages that people speak. The 5 languages include: Words of Affirmation, Quality Time, Gifts, Physical Touch and Acts of Service. Each person has a specific way that they prefer to receive and give love based on these 5 languages. If you are unsure of what type of Love Language resonates with you, you can take a quiz here. It’s a great tool for helping improve your relationship with you partner, children, family, or friends.
I wanted to see if there was any correlation between the Enneagram and the 5 Love Languages. So, I polled my Instagram following in my Instagram Stories, asking people what their Type was and their top 2 Love Languages. There did seem to be some correlations. For example, it didn’t surprise me to see words of affirmation were high on the list for both Type 3s and Type 6s. It was also interesting to see that gifts were the least popular Love Language for each Enneagram Type. I also complied a list of how to speak each Language for each Type.
Here are the following results for each type. These are written for receiving love, not giving love. In other words, these graphs represent how someone could speak the love language TO the person that is the listed type, not how each of those types speaks a love language to other people. So, use these graphs to see how to speak the love language to your partner or other loved one.
