Type 1s and 5s are both logical and rational. They are both thinking types, but there are strong differences in their thinking. Type 1s, although they are thinkers, the primarily use their gut or instincts to make decisions and to take action. They also are concerned with seeking justice and morality. On the other hand, Type 5s are more into thinking for the sake of thinking. They are less concerned with taking action. They are more interested in seeking knowledge.
Generally, Type 1s also tend to be more outspoken. They are certain about their ideals and do not mind speaking out for them. Type 5s are more introspective and less certain about ideals. They are more likely to ponder ideals rather than speak out about them.
Another difference between the two types is that Type 1s are usually bothered by unexpected changes. Type 5s are a little more accepting of changes and unexpected plans.
Finally, 1s tend to see the world from idealistic standards. They have strong ideals about the way things should be. Type 5s, however, are more curious and open. They tend to constantly investigate and question ideals and standards.
