Types 1 and 4 do not share Triads or Stances. Type 1s are in the Gut Triad, meaning they tend to make decisions with their gut, whereas Type 4 are in the Heart Triad. Types in the Heart Triad tend to rely on their feelings and emotions to make decisions. Additionally, Type 1s are in the Dependent Stance, which means that move toward people to get what they desire. Type 4s are in the Withdrawn Stance, which means they will withdraw when under stress. So, confusing these two types seems unlikely. But, they are linked with their growth and stress lines, so there are situations which might cause confusion between the two.
When under stress, 1s will take on traits of unhealthy 4s, so it’s possible for a 1 under stress to believe they are a 4. Likewise, when 4s are in a healthy state, they make take on some traits of a healthy 1, so they may believe they are actually a 1.
One of the main differences between these two types is how they handle emotions. 1s will ignore their emotions to meet their responsibilities. They are practical and rational, motivated by a sense of right and wrong. Compare this with Type 4s, who will indulge their own emotions before dealing with their duties. Type 4s are expressive and creative and less reliant on routines and consistency.
