When I set out to create a holiday table for the December issue of TOPS in Lex Magazine, I thought about the feeling I wanted to create. The lyric, “All is Calm, All is Bright”, from the popular Christmas carol, Silent Night, inspired me to create a serene, natural looking table, with just a touch of sparkle. Since the holidays can be a time of stress and hurriedness, I created this party to be the antidote. The green, tan, and cream color palette and natural touches capture the peaceful party table style I sought to create. There is also a coordinating Hot Cocoa Bar that I’ll be sharing, tomorrow.
And, I want all of my supportive, fabulous readers to have a calm, unhurried holiday, too! As my Christmas gift for you, I’ll be providing a link for free Christmas printable collection! The collection includes a party circles, banner, drink flags, and water bottle labels!
My absolute favorite part of the party is the doughnut hole wreath! From a distance, it looks like a fun decorating touch. Once guests approach the table, they will realize that it’s actually an edible decoration. The wide satin green bow was attached to the wreath to dress it up. Check back later this week for the DIY tutorial for this craft/dessert.
In addition to the reindeer cupcake topper, the other party circles include a vintage Santa in his sleigh and “Merry Christmas” text. The Santa and reindeer cupcake toppers coordinate with the place cards.
Oreo truffle pops were covered in white chocolate and topped with green sprinkles. The free drink flags were also added to the top of the pops sticks. White roses in a mason jar, tied with a green ribbon, add a natural element to the table.
Another way to add green to the dessert table was with the desserts. These quick and easy key lime parfaits use key lime yogurt. The yogurt in the parfait also makes the dessert a touch on the healthy side.
A trio of vanilla cakes were used on the table. For the smaller cakes, I made ruffle cakes, and added mini fondant flowers to the cakes. The larger cake was frosted with butter cream icing. Then, the cake was accented with a fondant snowflake cut from a cookie cutter.
By tying the cookies with twine, guests can take them home to enjoy later.
