Buttercups are blooming, birds are chirping, and lawn mowers are coming out of hibernation. Spring has finally sprung, which is reason enough to celebrate. Spring also brings many reasons to throw a party. If you want to revel in the start of Spring, there are so many fun reasons to throw a Spring bash. Here are just a few ideas for three fun Spring parties.
An Earth Day party would be a great party theme idea for an April birthday. Even if you won’t be celebrating any birthdays in April, kids will appreciate these fun Earth Day ideas. For decorations, use recycled items, like newspaper and paper bags, to make paper fans or garlands. Serve lots of fresh fruits and vegetables at the party. Earth inspired cupcakes can be made by swirling together green and blue cake batter. Purchase paper party goods made from 100% recycled materials to serve your goodies. Garden inspired items, like mini terra cotta planters, also can be used as serve ware or for decorations. For activities, kids can plant a tree or flowers in honor of Earth Day. Also, send kids into the backyard to look for Earth Day “treasures”. You’ll be amazed at all the beautiful leaves, rocks and twigs the will collect as their treasure. For Kentuckians, Derby day is the biggest day of the year, where our lovely state shines like no other day. Plan your decorations around Derby items, such as jockey silks, horses, and roses. Kentucky themed food, like Kentucky Hot Brown appetizers, burgoo, and bourbon balls can be incorporated into your menu. If you love Mint Juleps, update the drink by serving Mint Julep Cupcakes or Cherry Mint Julep Slushies. Most importantly, don’t forget a large television or multiple televisions so all your guests will be able to view the main event. Our free Derby party printables are available here. You can also see more Derby Party Ideas in this post. And, if kids will be joining you and your Derby party, you can see these Derby craft ideas for kids, here.
Cinco de Mayo
Cinco de Mayo falls on a Thursday, this year. Elevate a normal Thursday night dinner by serving Chicken Enchiladas Verde and Strawberry Lime Margaritas or Mock-a-ritas. Keep kids busy with a fun Cinco de Mayo craft. They can make mini maracas out of empty raisin boxes. Fill two boxes with dried beans and tape shut. Then glue a craft stick between two boxes. Cover boxes with paper and let the kids decorate their maracas. They’ll love decorating their own maracas and making music with them after they are done. If you’re looking to host a Cinco de Mayo bash, check our Fiesta party theme in this post.
