I have a quick confession for y’all. For the first time in about 5 years, I didn’t do a Christmas advent calendar for my kids. It just didn’t come together for some reason and my kids definitely let me know they weren’t happy about it! So, when I started planning ideas for Valentine’s Day, I thought it might be fun to make them a Valentine’s Day Countdown Calendar. You can also download the little cards I used for FREE. Just click on the link at the bottom of the post to download them!
Valentine’s Day is probably my most favorite holidays. A holiday dedicated to LOVE with lots of hearts, pink, and chocolate involved – how could I resist it? But, it’s also a good time to remember the One who first loved all of us. Instead of making advent cards with fun activities each day, theses cards each contain a Bible verse about Love. Some of the verses discuss God’s love for us and the others discuss how we should love one another.
For our Valentine’s Day Countdown Calendar, I’m going to place one card, starting February 1st, into a little mailbox for the kids each morning. On the back of the cards, I’m also going to write something I love about each of them. I’ll also slip a little goodie into the mailbox for them.
I purchased these mailboxes at Target last year. I believe they have similar mailboxes in the dollar aisle this year, too. Little goodies like chocolate and gumballs are good items to add to the mailbox. I also made Heart Jellybean Bracelets to put in the mailbox. By simply stringing some baker’s twine through the jellybeans with a needle, I made an edible bracelet.
I hope these reminders will make my kiddos’ Valentine’s Day extra sweet! I also help it will remind them of their Savior’s unconditional love for them!
