When I styled this party, I was craving a Spring inspired drink. It’s been pretty dreary here lately, so I needed something to remind me that summer will eventually be on its way. Since lemonade is an iconic summer drink, I started looking for fun lemonade recipes. This recipe adds fresh strawberries and a little fizz turns. The result is ordinary lemonade becomes a special event drink. While I was styling this table, I was wishing I had made extra lemonade because I kept wanting to drink it while I was taking pictures.
Sparkling Strawberry Lemonade (recipe from Annie’s Eats)
1 cup chopped strawberries
2 tbsp sugar
1 tsp freshly squeezed lemon juice
2 cups cold water
1 cup hot water
2/3 cup sugar
1 1/4 cups freshly squeezed lemon juice
4 1/2 cups cold sparkling water
For the Strawberry Syrup: Combine strawberries, sugar, lemon juice, and 2 cups cold water in blender or food processor and blend until smooth. Strain mixture using a fine mesh sieve. Push mixture through sieve to extract as much liquid as possible. Discard remaining strawberry seeds.
For the Lemonade: Combine hot water and sugar until sugar is fully dissolved. Add lemon juice and sparkling water. Stir in strawberry syrup. Serve over ice.
