Looking online this time of year can be dangerously tempting! Last week, as I was going through my Facebook feed, I saw some yummy looking cinnamon pretzels from Cleverly Inspired. I am a total sucker for the sweet and salty combination, so as soon as I saw those yummy looking pretzels, I couldn’t get them out of my mind!! Instead of using just cinnamon in my pretzels, I used a gingerbread spice mix since we were celebrating Gingerbread Day as part of our 12 Days of Christmas Fun. Plus, my daughter is crazy for gingerbread flavor!! But, I am going to make another batch of these very soon using Cleverly Inspired cinnamon sugar pretzels recipe.
These were super easy to make and the sweet/salty flavor combination was fantastic! They would make a great little treat to set out during a party or packaged up to give as a take-home party favor. For some extra cuteness, I added a few little gingerbread cookies to the pretzel mix.
Gingerbread Pretzels Recipe (adapted from Cleverly Inspired)
1 16 oz. bag mini pretzels
2/3 cup canola oil
1/2 cup sugar
2 teaspoons ground ginger
1 1/2 teaspoons cinnamon
1/2 teaspoon nutmeg
Preheat oven to 300 degrees. Mix oil, sugar , ginger, cinnamon and nutmeg. Pour pretzels into a large bowl and pour spice mixture over pretzels. Stir, then pour pretzels onto a large baking sheet or roasting pan. Bake pretzels for 30 minutes, stirring once. Remove from heat, cool. Will keep for a about 1 week in a sealed container.
Then do you just throw the cookies in at the end? Or toss & bake them too?
Yes! Toss the cookies in at the end. After you bake the pretzels, then add the cookies after the pretzels are all done.
