Can you believe that tomorrow is the first day of July? Is it just me or has June flown by?! With our kids getting out later than usual for summer, it feels like summer should just be getting started. And, the summer camps, swim team practices, travel baseball games and practices have taken some time to get used to! I’m hoping we are more into a routine now, so I can get back to regularly blogging!
If you’re looking for a super simple treat for the weekend, these Fourth of July Rice Krispie Treats are just for you! For our Fourth of July Party, my daughter made these decorated Fourth of July Rice Krispie Treats to put in the take home favor bags. It was a cute little treat that was easy to make. She used store bought Rice Krispie Treats, but it would work just as well with the homemade version.
To make these, she melted about 1/2 cup blue chocolate wafers in the microwave in 1 minute increments, stirring after each minute. She dipped one half of the rice krispie treat in the melted chocolate, then sprinkled them with nonpareils and colored sugar. She laid them on parchment paper to harden. Once the chocolate cools and hardens, they are ready to serve or package up for party favors. If you’re packaging them up, you can finish off the favor bags with one of thank you tags.
