Overview
Each Enneagram Type has specific traits and motivations that are attributed to that Type. However, each Type can look a lot different depending on what level of development that person is currently in. Levels of development can change for a person based on many things, like life circumstances, mental health and mood. So, it’s not unusual to see yourself move between different levels of development during a given time period. I sometimes feel like I move through all three levels for my Type in just one day!
Why Levels of Development are Important
It’s important to know your Type’s levels of development for a couple of reasons. First, if you know what traits you start to exhibit during unhealthy levels of development, you can recognize those traits early in a bad time. Recognizing that you are entering an unhealthy period can act as a signpost to let you know that you might need to change something up. Knowing that you are entering a time of stress allows you to give yourself more grace or change up what you are doing to reach healthier levels.
Second, having knowledge about healthy levels of development can allow you to strive for those goals during a time of growth. Knowing healthy traits for your Type can help you create more habits that lead to those levels.
