Creamy banana pudding is my husband’s all-time favorite dessert recipe. One time I made it for a family dinner. All of the kids and my husband went outside to play baseball in the side yard after dinner. The kids all came inside, one-by-one, to eat dessert, but my husband didn’t come inside until the game was completely over. By the time he got back inside, the banana pudding was gone. I have never seen him so crushed as he was that evening. I’m just glad it was his family, and not mine, that crushed his banana pudding dreams that night! Haha!
I’ve tried several banana pudding recipes, but I think this one is my favorite. It’s easy to make since there is no cooking involved. Plus, it is so rich and creamy. It’s the perfect dessert for a Mardi Gras party or any other southern style event. .
Banana Pudding Recipe
1 (8 ounce) package cream cheese, softened
1 (5 ounce) package instant vanilla pudding mix
3 cups cold milk
1 (14 ounce) can sweetened condensed milk
1 tablespoon vanilla extract
1 (12 ounce) container frozen whipped topping, thawed
1/2 box mini vanilla wafers
4 ripe bananas
In a large bowl, beat cream cheese until fluffy. Add pudding mix, milk, condensed milk, vanilla extract and beat until smooth. Fold in 1/2 of the whipped topping.
Line the bottom of a trifle dish with vanilla wafers. Top with banana slices. Spread pudding mixture on top, then spread remaining whipped topping. Chill.
To make individual servings: line bottom of 15- 18 small glasses (approximately 8 ounce cups) with vanilla wafers. Top with banana slice. Spoon pudding mixture on top, then add a dollop of whipped topping on each glass. Chill.
