Hello sunshines! I’ve been MIA, lately, trying to get lots of fun projects finished up and spending some quality time vacationing with my sweet little family! But, it’s back to blogging time, so I have a super simple little project for your next ice cream party. Guests will love these chocolate dipped ice cream cones and they add some great color to otherwise bland sugar cones!
For our recent Fall Ice Cream Party, I dipped sugar cones into colored white chocolate to match the Printable Ice Cream Party Collection. The pale pink and mint chocolate added a little pop of color to the sugar cones. For my cones, I had pale pink and pale blue chocolate melting wafers on hand. To achieve the mint color, I add a few drops of yellow gel food coloring to the blue chocolate melts. If you’d like to customize your chocolate colors, make sure to use the gel food coloring, NOT liquid food coloring. The liquid food coloring will make your chocolate seize.
What you’ll need:
Melting chocolate wafers in desired colors
Gel food coloring (optional)
1. Melt approximately 1/2 cup chocolate in microwave in 30 second increments, stirring after each increment. Continue until the chocolate is completely melted.
2. If you want to customize your colors, add a couple drops of gel food coloring into chocolate. Stir and repeat until you have the desired color.
3. Add 1 tablespoon of shortening to melted chocolate, stir until completely melted and combined.
4. Dip top of cone into chocolate. Set cone into a small glass, right side up until chocolate is completely hardened.
