One lettering hang up that I hear about a lot is how to letter double letters. I think some of the problem might be that two of the same letters right next to each other can look a little boring. But, there is a simple way to make double letters look more interesting. So, today’s Brush Lettering Series tip is how to letter double letters.
The trick to making double letters look better in your piece is to vary the two letters in some way. For example, you can add a flourish to one of the letters or vary the heights of one of the letters. Or if you have two different ways of making the same letter, incorporate both of those in the word.
