I made these inexpensive tray chalkboards to hang in our apartment kitchen. They were a quick, cheap DIY art for a small space. Of course, they would be lovely using a large silver tray, too. To keep the project under $10, I purchased the trays at the dollar store. A thrift shop would also be a great place to search for inexpensive trays.
What you’ll need:
Dollar Store or Thrift Shop Trays
Chalkboard Paint
Paint Brush
Command Damage-Free Picture Hanging Strips
How to make it:

Paint inside edges of tray with chalkboard paint. Paint a fairly thick coat for the paint.

Let paint dry for 24 hours.

Season chalkboard by rubbing the entire board with chalk, wipe off with paper towel.

Hang using Command Damage-Free Picture Hanging Strips.
