Probably the most frequent question I receive about hand lettering is “what are the best pens for hand lettering beginners?” When I first started getting interested in learning hand lettering, I thought if I just bought the right tools, I would magically transform my writing into beautiful calligraphy. Oh man, do I wish it was actually that simple! Unfortunately, it’s a little more complicated than that.
Even with the right pens, I quickly learned that there is a technique to hand lettering. So, that’s the bad news! But, I do have some good news for you, too! The right pens can definitely make your lettering journey much simpler. I do have a list of the 4 pens that will make it easier to learn to letter. My newest YouTube video will discuss those pens in detail. Don’t forget to subscribe to my YouTube Channel while you are there, so you don’t miss out on any of our weekly lettering videos.
In addition to getting the right pens, you’ll also want to start with some lettering worksheets to learn the technique for lettering. You can start with our Free Anyone Can Letter Email Challenge, which will give you a worksheet which includes all of the lowercase letters.
