Is anyone besides me craving a little color in their life right now? I’ve heard of “April showers bring May flowers”, but what do May showers bring exactly? We’ve had so much rain here, lately. It seems like it’s been cloudy and dreary the majority of May so far. So, this past weekend, we made our own color and sunshine with this fruit tray. Instant color and mood boost!
My brother lives out in California, so we don’t get to see him as often as we’d all like to see him. But, this week, he has been in Kentucky visiting. This past weekend, we hosted a Welcome Home/Derby/Mother’s Day/Ice Cream Party for our extended family. One of the items I made for the party was this fruit tray. Fruit tray are great party foods because not only are they pretty, but they are also healthy and can be made in advance. This tray was made the morning of the party, I simply covered it in plastic wrap and stored it in the refrigerator. If you’re looking for more fruit tray inspiration, check out The Delicious. It’s one of my favorite Instagram accounts with the most beautiful and delicious looking food!
Creating the perfect fruit tray is simple with three of my favorite ideas:
- Group colors together and have the colors grouped together like a rainbow. Basically, move from one color fruit to the next in the order of a rainbow.
- Turn each type of fruit the same way. If you look at this tray, you’ll see that all of the honeydew is facing the same direction. The oranges and the strawberries are also all facing in one direction.
- Leave some of the peels on for interest. On a few types of fruit, leave the peels or leaves on the fruit. The honeydew, oranges and the strawberries have the peel or tops left on them.
