This may be one of the simplest DIY projects, ever! Of course, simpler is always better if you ask me. Most of us don’t have time for complicated crafts or DIYs for every day celebrations! With just some ribbon, you can turn a simple white lantern into a matching lantern for any color scheme for your next party!
When I started styling our Fall Ice Cream Party, I wanted to place a pumpkin, paper lanterns, and paper pom poms under the table to fill that empty space. I had several white and pale pink lanterns and pom poms on hand from other parties (don’t you love reusing party décor?). But, when they were all placed under the table, it looked a little too monotone and not quite colorful enough. It really needed a pop of orange to complement the orange pumpkin. Instead of buying new orange lanterns or pom poms, I just added a little orange trim to some of my white lanterns. It gave the lanterns a much needed dose of colors. And, best of all, the lanterns can be reused for another party by just changing out the ribbon trim.
What you’ll need:
Paper lantern with a plastic base & top (I purchased mine at the local dollar store)
Wrap ribbon around the base of the lantern to measure how much you’ll need. Cut ribbon in desired length and tape around the bottom of the lantern. You can just use one piece of tape in the back if you wrap it tight enough around the base. Repeat with top. All done!
