When we moved into our house, most of it was painted some shade of cream or beige. It was great because all of our furniture and paintings didn’t clash with the existing paint. However, I like a little brighter white and more colorful palette. We’ve been slowly painting many of the rooms in the house. The most recent room I painted was the small hall bathroom off the kitchen. It’s the only bathroom on the first floor, except for the master bathroom, so it’s the one that guests most often use. I wanted to brighten it up and add a little sparkle to it. Small bathroom decor can still be stylish, even though your working with a small space. Here’s what the bathroom looked like before:
I knew that we weren’t planning a full bathroom remodel. The sink was staying and we aren’t planning on changing the slate flooring. The light fixture and mirror might eventually be changed out, but at this time, I opted to just give them a quick update.
The first thing I did to the bathroom was paint it Chantilly Lace by Benjamin Moore. It instantly brightened the small space and made it feel a little larger and less dingy. Adding some colorful accessories and a gold polka dot feature on the ceiling made the bathroom a little more stylish. It was difficult to photograph the ceiling in such a small space, but the gold polka dot ceiling is probably my favorite part of the update. It’s also great because it draws the eyes up, instead of focusing on the small space. I kept the existing mirror, toilet paper holder, and towel ring, but spray painted them all gold. For the light fixture, I used Gold Rub N Buff to make the silver accent gold. Scroll down below for a list of the sources.
