We’ve been having such an unusual winter, here. Even though we haven’t had a big snowfall, there have been small snowfalls every few days, which has really disrupted our school schedule. We’re all starting to suffer from a little cabin fever. To combat the winter blues, I’ve started planning some Snow Day activities for my kids. I shared a couple of those Snow Day Ideas, yesterday. And, I’ve got a few more to share today.
Snow Ice Cream
Do you remember making Snow Ice Cream as a kid? I sure do; I think we’ve all had it at least once in our life. I couldn’t really remember how we made it, but was able to find a recipe for it from Paula Deen. She recommends mixing snow with sweetened condensed milk.
Paula Deen’s recipe calls for quite a bit of sweetened condensed milk. I used about half of what her recipe called for – so just use you judgement when mixing it all together.
Snow Day Reading
Another one of the Snow Day Activities that we did was look around the house for snow themed books. My son found these two books in his room. We spent a couple of hours snuggled up in his bed reading these snowy themed books. It might have been my favorite part of the day 🙂
Finally, even though it was a few weeks until Valentine’s Day, I pulled out lots of our craft supplies so the kids could make snowman Valentines for their grandparents.
There was no plan for making the Valentines, other than we talked about using the phrase “I love you SNOW much!”.
Honestly, I was shocked that my son lasted as long as he did making the Valentines. They both spent a good portion of the afternoon making these.
And, I loved how creative they each got with their Valentines. Valentine’s Day is just a week away. So, making Valentines is a great Snow Day Activity for this time of year!
Have you had a lot of snow this year? How have you kept your kids occupied?
