{Parties} – 60th Birthday Watercolor Party

I’m thrilled to share a Watercolor Party with you today that is near and dear to my heart.  Last month, my mom celebrated her 60th birthday.   When my sister and I asked her what she wanted to do to celebrate, she said she wanted to have an intimate dinner for just our family and her parents.  We decided to have a Watercolor Party theme for her birthday (you can read more about why we chose that theme, here).

Scroll down for all the party pictures and details.  And, come back later this week for recipes and DIY crafts from the party.

{Décor} The decorations started with pink watercolor theme, with little touches of gold.  For the printable paper goods, I first hand painted a watercolor pink painting.  Then, I scanned it and used it as a background for all the paper goods, like the banner, place cards, signs and cupcake toppers.  This Collection will be added my Etsy Shop soon!  Watercolor ruffled crepe paper streamers were also used throughout the party.  Touches of gold were added with gold heart cupcake toppers, gold balls topping the Oreo truffle pops, and gold and pink mini tissue fringe garland for the cake.

For the dinner table, I wanted pink mason jars for the pink floral arrangements.  Since I couldn’t find any pink mason jars, I decided to dye them myself .  Look for tutorials for the watercolor ruffle streamers and pink mason jars later this week!

{Food} For dinner, we served Bloody Mary Tomato Salad with Shrimp, Mixed Baby Greens Salad with Strawberries, Blue Cheese and Honey Mustard Vinaigrette, Filet Mignon with Chive Butter, Assorted Roasted Potatoes and Roasted Green Beans.  For a signature drink, we made a Pink Lemonade Spritzer.  The dessert table included a chocolate cake with chocolate icing (the birthday girl’s only request for the evening), monogrammed sugar cookies, vanilla cupcakes, Oreo truffle pops, and two kinds of homemade fudge (another one of the birthday girl’s favorites).

It was a fun evening filled with good food and family.  But most importantly, it was a wonderful night celebrating our beautiful mom!

It’s Royal Dalton, but I can’t remember the name of the actual pattern. It’s been a few years since we were married, I guess I forgot that detail :)
